Mason Owen helps secure 90 shops for Greggs the Bakers Mason Owen have recently secured a dozen properties across the North West as part of a major shop acquisition programme for clients Greggs.

Liverpool-based Mason Owen have been instructed to find more than 20 properties that will serve as outlets for Greggs’ Manchester bakery – which covers Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire, North Wales, Cheshire, Shropshire and The Potteries.

The instruction came after Greggs announced their plans to acquire 90 shops nationwide in 2010 – with at least 15 new premises in the North West region alone.

So far Mason Owen, who have been Greggs’ property consultants across the North West for 40 years, have acquired shops in Mold, Southport, Glossop, Llandudno, Manchester University, St Annes and Altrincham, with terms agreed on others in Kensington (Liverpool), Rhyl, Prestwich, Manchester and Manchester city centre.

Mason Owen’s Retail Team is also currently in negotiation on a further 10 properties – which will help Greggs reach their 2010 expansion plan successfully and on time.

Greggs is the leading bakery retailer in the UK – serving more than one million customers each day, in over 1,400 shops around the UK.

They currently employ approximately 19,000 people and plan to add 600 new shops to their portfolio in the coming years, creating up to 6,000 new jobs.

Greggs regional bakeries bake food for daily delivery to their shops and they also have 90 in-store bakeries, with skilled craft bakers providing freshly baked food on-site.
